If they’ve helped people with mental illness? Depression? That’s wonderful. A lot of it feels like rote self help book cliches. What BTS has accomplished is no small feat and is amazing. It’s cool that people dig it and that they’ve continued to break barriers. BTS however just doesn’t have that same level of artistry. His videos were poking at the social norms of high Korean culture & his music really broke barriers in the western world. Truth is I actually enjoy some Korean music. So you are so desperate for some sort of validation that what you like is good that anyone who expresses an opinion to the contrary is the enemy & racist. The truth is you toss around words like “bigot” & “ignorant” because you’re desperate. So you see that & think, what? I’m a bigot lol. I don’t like the same music you like, express my opinion and you say I’m ignorant and a bigot? I happen to know quite a bit about BTS & my response to the user who suggested I didn’t was sarcastic. Because I don’t like a group of musicians that happens to be Asian? What kind of fucked up logic is that? See this is the fucking problem with pop culture discourse today.
But I’ll still be a fan of Coldplay.or what they were.Įxplain to me how I’m a bigot. Looking forward to new albums, buying every album, going to concerts. What I mean is I’m done being an active fan. When I say “I’m done” I don’t mean I’ll listen to a Coldplay song ever again. I hate to draw a line in the sand that like but.I just can’t support a band who has gone from “Rush of Blood to the Head” to a duet with a boy band.Įdit: I should clarify.
I’m someone who loves the Violet Hill style of Coldplay. There some who love the bright, radio friendly up tempo songs. There’s Coldplay fans who will dig anything the band does.
I can’t support that.Īgain, I know a lot of you don’t care. That’s like Coldplay doing a duet with the Backstreet Boys or N’Sync in the early 2000s. I mean no offence to all the people who enjoy that kind of thing but after Rihanna, Beyoncé and the Chainsmokers.I can’t support a band that’s changed that much. Brian Eno assisted throughout while Rihanna has recorded guest vocals for 'Princess of China'.I don’t know if anyone has heard the rumours or not but apparently Coldplay might be doing a song with BTS.
